# THREE_REFUGES_AND_FIVE_PRECEPTS

In the cooling weather of the end of August, this morning we hold the ceremony of THREE REFUGES AND FIVE PRECEPTS for laypeople. Two lay people proclaim to be a Buddhist and take refuge in the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha, while other abbey residents receive the reinforce precepts.

Preah Krou Nariyadhipatani Kammatthana speaks on the meaning of the three refuges and five precepts. Taking refuges in the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha means to let the purifying power of the universe as our spiritual support; keeping the five precepts is the way to remind us stepping forward the virtues and avoiding the evil. Once you promise to hold the precepts carefully, it is definitely to enhance your awareness and gain the wisdom in the process of subduing our mind. That is why we say holding the precepts is good for human life.
