Crisis of Faith –Moral and Social Concerns (Slavery in Islam)

As part of the Crisis of Faith Series, let’s continue our discussion on moral and social concerns, with a focus on slavery in Islam. We will also explore the idea of humans being slaves of God. To get this important discussion underway, let’s sit down and talk to our expert in-house, Dr. Shabir Ally.

This was great explanation. Islam maximized the exit door of emancipation and minimized the entrance to make difficult to own slaves. The muslim was extensively encourage to free slaves to get god's mercy, get forgiveness and grace, while the slave owners were put on them alot of obligations like feeding with a food like theirs, giving a shelter, clothes and being employed in the highest ranks of military and dynasties, which made many slaves to be kings. The history part has a smell of the middle ages but it's full of beautiful examples. But the quranic example of good treatment, obligations of the master, encouraging the relief and call of emancipation is the best example of all. Thank you Shabir Ally.
